The High Council strongly recommends that all Epoch members install, use and come to love Ventrilo. Using Ventrilo will make a significant difference to how you play an instance or other group encounter while in Azeroth.

If you've already experienced using Ventrilo, here's the basic information you'll need to join our server:
  Hostname: vent.epochguild.com
  Port: 22539
When you connect, enter the Guild Chat unless you're currently part of a party using one of our group channels.

If you're new to Ventrilo, then simply continue reading for detailed information on how to get started.

To get Ventrilo, simply go here and download the appropriate client for your system. Be sure to get the client and not the server - it's an easy mistake that will leave you rather frustrated. Once downloaded and installed, the first step is to start the program and set up your user name.

First set up your User Name. Click the button beside the User Name field (highlighted in green on the accompanying image) and choose "New" to type in your name. We currently have no rules about your Ventrilo name corresponding to an in-game name, so feel free to call yourself what you wish. Your name does appear to everyone else in the channel, however, so we suggest caution in using your "real" name (ignoring the fact that Jadore in setting up her Ventrilo and in preparing this example has done exactly that - silly priestess!). You can play with the Phonetic field to try and have the server announce your name with the correct pronunciation; this is entirely optional. Once you're done, it's time to enter Epoch's server information. For this, you have two choices: you can click here to have everything set up for you. Alternatively, you can choose to enter the information yourself as detailed below.

To set up the server information, click on the button (highlighted in blue) beside Server and select "New" - we suggest using "Epoch" as the server name for ease of use. Enter "vent.epochguild.com" in the Hostname or IP field and then the Port number is "22539" (you can see all of this below). Click "OK" and you're set-up, all that's left is to hit "Connect" and join us on the channel.

When you connect you'll see yourself in the lobby, where "Ruth" is in the image below. In order to join your fellow guildees (in this case, Kit) double-click on "Guild Chat" to enter the regular Epoch chat channel. On some occasions, you may be in a party using one of our group channels; you join these in the same way, by double-clicking on the name of the channel you wish to join.
